Installation, Cleaning & Maintenance
Installation
  • Mounting: Extend the tripod's three legs, raise the support rod to the desired height, and seat the fixture head on the bracket. The fixture can also be rigged overhead using M10-rated hardware and a safety cable.
  • Placement: Keep a minimum of 1.6 ft (0.5 m) from objects and surfaces, and at least 8 in (20 cm) from flammable materials. Position the tripod on flat, stable ground away from foot traffic.
  • Safety: When suspending overhead, always attach an appropriately rated safety cable — never rely on the clamp alone. Never stand directly below the fixture during rigging, and never operate with covers removed or damaged.
  • Power: Connect to a properly grounded outlet. This is a Class 1 fixture — never remove the ground prong, and never connect it to a dimmer pack.
  • DMX Wiring: Connect DMX In/Out in a daisy chain and set each unit's starting address (e.g., in 12-CH mode: unit 1 = 1, unit 2 = 13, unit 3 = 25).
Cleaning
  • Lenses: Wipe the bee eye, PAR, and pixel bar lenses with a soft microfiber cloth — dust visibly dulls the bee eye beam definition and color output.
  • Housing: Wipe the chassis with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Do not use alcohol or solvents, and never spill liquid onto the fixture or remote.
  • Ventilation: Keep vent openings clear of dust to maintain proper cooling.
Maintenance
  • Inspection: Periodically check the tripod locks, mounting brackets, and any rigging hardware for tightness and wear.
  • Rotation Check: If a bee eye rotates unevenly or stalls, power down and contact YeeSite service — there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
  • Cooling: Power the fixture down when not in use, and allow about 15 minutes of cool-down before handling or servicing.
  • Operating Limit: Do not operate when ambient temperature exceeds 104°F (40°C).

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is a bee eye light?

A bee eye uses a faceted honeycomb lens over a motorized, rotating RGBW LED cluster to split the output into dozens of moving, kaleidoscope-style beams. This fixture carries two — one at each end of the head — with independent DMX control of rotation direction and speed.

Can I use it without a DMX controller?

Yes. Auto mode runs built-in programs (35 combined PAR + bee eye effects, plus 73 RGB and 51 white pixel bar effects), Sound Active mode syncs everything to music through the built-in mic (sensitivity 0–99), and the included 21-key IR remote controls each section wirelessly. DMX is optional.

Can multiple units run in sync?

Yes. Connect units via DMX In/Out in Master-Slave mode and slaves will follow the master's program. You can also give each unit its own DMX address for independent control from a console. When multiple units run together, only the master responds to the IR remote.

What happens if the DMX signal drops?

You choose: the fixture can be set to black out or hold the last received values when signal is lost — set via the fail-mode option in the system menu.
