Installation, Cleaning & Maintenance
Installation
  • Setup: Place the fixture on a flat, stable floor surface — the wide base plate supports the vertical column without additional bracing. Position in a stage corner, beside a DJ booth, or flanking a band setup.
  • Orientation: Designed for floor-standing vertical use. Do not lay horizontally during operation, as the heat-dissipation pattern is optimized for upright airflow.
  • Stability: Keep cables routed away from foot traffic and verify the base plate sits flush on the floor — uneven surfaces can cause the column to lean over time.
  • Grounding: Connect the PowerCon cable to a properly grounded outlet before powering on.
  • DMX Wiring: Use shielded twisted-pair 3-pin DMX cable. Terminate the final fixture in the chain with a 120Ω resistor across pins 2 and 3.
Cleaning
  • Front Grilles: Wipe the hexagonal grilles with a dry microfiber cloth — dust on the honeycomb screen visibly dulls the COB output.
  • Cooling Fan: Air-blow dust out of the rear cooling fan and intake vents every 200 hours of use.
  • Housing: Wipe the metal spine and base plate with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Do not use alcohol or solvents.
Maintenance
  • Inspection: Periodically check that all spine connectors and base-plate bolts are tight; verify the LED heads are seated firmly without play.
  • Storage: Store within -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to 50°C). Keep the column upright or in original packaging to avoid spine flex during long-term storage.
  • Service: There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Stop using the fixture if LEDs flicker erratically or the fan fails to spin, and contact authorized service.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

How is this different from a standard horizontal retro blinder?

This fixture is a vertical totem — 6 hexagonal heads stacked in a column on a freestanding base plate. It sits upright on the floor like a pillar, projecting from floor to head height. Standard retro blinders project horizontally from overhead truss; this one builds a vertical wall of light from the stage floor up.

Can I mount it overhead or hang it from truss?

No. The fixture is designed for floor-standing vertical use only — the base plate is a tripod-style footprint, not a hanging yoke. For overhead-mounted retro lights, see our horizontal cluster retro stage light.

Can I use it without a DMX controller?

Yes. Auto mode runs 38 built-in RGB programs and 20 amber programs; Sound Active mode reacts to music; Master-Slave mode syncs multiple units. Sound sensitivity is adjustable in the menu.

How many DMX channels does it use?

Five DMX modes: 4 channels (simple RGBW control), 16 channels (full effects), 21 channels (RGB + 6 individual ambers), 24 channels (per-pixel R/G/B/A), and 36 channels (full per-pixel + effects + background). Choose the mode that fits your console.
